Golf for Food Tournament Raises over $10,000
to Help Local Food Pantries
OXFORD, Maine (October 8, 2014) – Poland Spring Resort held its 3rd Annual Golf for Food tournament on September 16, 2014 inviting golfers to play to help “feed your neighbors!” Tournament winners were Mark McKay, Shawn Millet, Dave Whitman and Todd Smith with a gross score of 57. John Conant, Ngoni Daytime and Steve Lebossiere won low net with 52.15.
The biggest winners in this event were the Poland Food Bank and Oxford Helping Hands Pantry, which split the $10,492 raised in sponsorships, greens fees and cash donations. Cyndi Robbins, coordinator of the event said “the food banks are very grateful to Oxford Casino, Poland Spring Water, the Resort and many others for supporting Golf for Food which provides many meals to those less fortunate in our community.”
Golfers were asked to bring a pound of food per raffle ticket for a chance to win many great items donated by local businesses. The food offerings accumulated, filling two truckloads with everything from baking staples to ready-to-eat meals.
