TEAM MEMBER SPOGHTLIGHT – AMY M.

Hello from the Hotel and congratulations on a one year anniversary to our devoted Hotel Manager, Amy M.

In chatting with Amy, we discovered what drew her here, how she earned promotions, and what makes working at Oxford Casino Hotel wicked good FUN. We hope you share our inspiration as you check out her interview below!

Amy wasn’t sure exactly what she wanted to do after high school, but give a girl some wanderlust and she shall explore! Forever having been a fan of travelling, Amy immersed herself in the hospitality industry in college and knew it was the place for her. During her sophomore internship, she fell in love with working in hotels.

“The pace of the day can be addicting. You are able to interact with so many different people from all over the world. It is a great feeling leaving at the end of the day knowing that you’ve done your best to make all of your guests feel welcome and comfortable.”

Amy began her career at Oxford Casino Hotel in the Hotel Housekeeping department, in which she discovered her favorite thing about working here:

“There are so many friendly people that work here, who look out for each other and are willing to jump in and give a hand wherever help is needed. I’ve never worked in a place where everyone is so willing to lend a hand when a team is down a person or simply busier than expected.”

When the Hotel Manager position opened in 2021, Amy knew immediately that she’d want to apply.

“I was excited (and thankful!) for the opportunity to grow! Over the years, I’ve worked in Housekeeping, Front Desk and Food and Beverage, in a variety of settings, and learned so much. In this role, I am able to put it all together. Every day provides new challenges to work through. I get more opportunities to improve the hotel and help my team members grow and become passionate about the industry.”

Amy has now been managing the hotel for over a year. On a typical day, there is no typical day! As summer approaches, she is currently working on bringing in new team members so they are ready for the busy season. She balances spending time working with Supervisors to ensure their teams are performing and improving as well as interacting with other departments, guests and vendors to ensure everything runs smoothly. Depending on the day, you will likely also find her upstairs making beds, checking guests in or out, or helping in the Laundry Room.

Amy’s smile and positive attitude are contagious, so be sure to say hello when you see her around the casino and hotel! Congratulations on 1 Year as Hotel Manager and thank you for all that you do!
