Oxford Casino patron wins $50,000 jackpot

OXFORD, MAINE – JULY 27, 2012 – An Oxford Casino patron won a $50,000 jackpot during a game of Let It Ride poker on Tuesday evening, July 24. The winner, who has chosen to remain anonymous, won with a straight flush in Spades. This jackpot is the largest amount won to date at Oxford Casino since the grand opening less than eight weeks ago. The winner represents the first entry into Oxford Casino’s “$50K Club.”

“The entire staff and all the patrons at Oxford Casino let up a big cheer when the jackpot was won,” says Jack Sours, vice president and general manager of Oxford Casino. “While many people leave winners every day, this jackpot was a momentous one.”

In Let It Ride Poker, each player is dealt three cards. All the players share two additional cards, called “community cards.”The five cards together constitute a “hand,” and the goal is to make a pair of 10s or better to get paid. Bigger hands -like three of a kind, a full house, or four of a kind-win bigger jackpots. Oxford Casino’s winner was dealt 4, 6 and 7 of Spades. When the dealer turned over the community cards, 3 and 5 of Spades showed.
