Golf Benefits United Way of Oxford County

Oxford Casino Helps Raise Money for United Way

OXFORD, Maine (September 9, 2014) – For the second consecutive year, team members of Oxford Casino held their golf tournament to raise money for the United Way of Oxford County. The event, held at Poland Spring Golf Course, was a four-person scramble that offered many side games such as “Par 3 Poker,” the “$10 Drive Hole,” and a putting contest, all of which brought in additional contributions and put the “fun” in fund raising.

In addition to the action on the course, area businesses donated prizes for the Silent Auction held after the completion of tournament play. Prizes included an autographed basketball from the Maine Red Claws, complimentary rounds at the Sunday River golf course and tickets to the Sylvania 300 Weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Other donations included passes from Maine Wildlife Park, gift certificates from Main Street – Norway, Paris Farmer’s Union, Maurice Restaurant, Goodwin Nursery, Classic Car Services and items from Frost Farm Gallery, Victoria Mansion, New Balance and services from Joan Churchill and Dow’s Law Office, to name a few.

“We are so pleased that our community partners, friends and neighbors have stepped up to make such great contributions to the United Way,” said Jack Sours, Vice President and General Manager of Oxford Casino, “and the extra efforts of the Oxford Casino Team never cease to make me proud.”

Oxford Casino’s team members are no strangers to assisting the United Way. In October of 2013, Team Members volunteered to have one time and weekly deductions from their pay checks automatically sent to the United Way of Oxford County. These efforts resulted in a yearly campaign projection of over $23,000, and on every last Friday of the month, Team Members who have signed up for these charitable, payroll deductions get to wear United Way T-shirts to work to show their ongoing support.
