Oxford Casino Celebrates Grand Opening

OXFORD, MAINE – Oxford Casino celebrated its official launch June 5 with a private reception and ribbon cutting immediately before opening its doors to the public. Special guests of Oxford Casino enjoyed tours of the facility, speeches by Oxford town officials, and entertainment by Las Vegas showgirls. This celebration marked the official grand opening of Oxford Casino, which is now operating 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

Oxford Casino is opening ahead of schedule in response to the public demand. While casino operators initially anticipated a mid-summer start, the consistently positive support from the community, vendors, and prospective customers encouraged them to hasten the opening. Construction crews and the management team were able to facilitate an earlier opening date.

“We took a very long journey to get to our grand opening, and we have countless people to thank who helped along the way,” says Jack Sours, vice president and general manager of Oxford Casino. “From all the voters on the 2010 referendum to the tireless construction crews and newly hired workforce, we appreciate
everyone’s contribution.”

There will be a second grand opening this fall when a facility expansion is completed. The gaming area is set to grow by 50% to accommodate hundreds of additional slot machines and several more table games. Cianbro, the Maine-based company that is built the Oxford Casino, will construct this expansion.

Oxford Casino features more than 500 slot machines and a dozen table games including Roulette, Craps and Black Jack. The facility also features a bar area, restaurant with seating for up to 100, and a take-away, food stand.
