Oxford Casino donated, for the third consecutive year!
OXFORD, Maine (August 18, 2014) – The Oxford Hills Rotary Club held its 28th Annual Lobster & Steak Fest to benefit nearly 40 organizations and the causes they support. The Rotary participates in many charitable projects in the area, offering both financial aid and hands-on assistance such as building a shed and putting a new roof on the existing barn at the Alan Day Community Garden, supporting Special Olympics, and leading an initiative to provide dictionaries to every third grader attending Oxford Hills schools.
As a member of the Oxford Hills community, Oxford Casino donated, for the third consecutive year, twenty five tickets to each of the four, local nursing homes so that the residents could either attend the Lobster & Steak Fest, or, if they were unable to make the trip, have the meals delivered to them at their residences.
The Oxford Hills Rotary Club was chartered in November, 1983, and just celebrated its 30th Anniversary. The Rotary has been instrumental in the fight to eradicate polio and has been raising money and participating in National Immunization Trips (NITs) to vaccinate children in other countries since 1985. Rotary also collects mobility devices such as walkers, wheelchairs and crutches for a program called “Crutches 4 Africa.” Once collected, these devices are recycled and distributed to disabled adults and children in Africa, helping them to regain their mobility.
Oxford Hills Rotarian and Event Publicity Coordinator, Patty Rice stated, “Jack Sours has been a great addition to our club and we are very appreciative of the casino donating the money toward these tickets as well as its help in procuring preferential (bulk) pricing for the food and supplies needed for the event.”
