Oxford Casino Employees Donate Nearly 400 Gifts for Children

OXFORD, Maine (Dec. 19, 2013) – Sixty area kids will be able to cross quite a few items off their wish list this year thanks to Santa’s helpers who happen to work atop Pigeon Hill in Oxford, Maine! Oxford Casino Team Members had Christmas Trees in their break and administration areas adorned with stars and angels that each had the name of a gift that area children and teens really wanted for Christmas. Within a matter of days, bags upon bags of unwrapped gifts began to fill the administrative offices. By the end of the effort, nearly 400 gifts were ready for transport and they continue to come in.

Dee Dee Allen, Executive Administer, said “With estimated costs averaging close to $4,000 for items donated, we far exceded last year’s goals.”

Oxford Casino’s employees are no strangers to helping the community. This past October, Team Members stepped up to have one time and weekly deductions from their pay checks that would automatically be sent to the United Way of Oxford County. These efforts resulted in a yearly campaign projection of over $23,000, and on every last Friday of the month, Team Members who have signed up for these charitable, payroll deductions get to wear United Way T-shirts to show their ongoing support.
