Oxford Casino Provides Heat
OXFORD, Maine (February 26, 2014) – It’s been a brutal winter, with plunging temperatures and soaring heating costs. To help some of the areas’ most distressed citizens, Oxford Casino donated $5,000 to the United Way of Oxford County’s Heating Assistance Program.
United Way Executive Director Dennis Gray expressed thanks for this generous donation, “as they did last year, Oxford Casino has stepped up to assist families in our communities to stay warm during this frigid winter. We will coordinate the distribution of these funds with our partners at Community Concepts.”
“I’ve said it before, we’re part of this community, and we want to do our part to help,” said Jack Sours, Oxford Casino General Manager and Vice President.
Oxford Casino’s employees are no strangers to assisting the United Way. This past October, Team Members volunteered to have one time and weekly deductions from their pay checks automatically sent to the United Way of Oxford County. These efforts resulted in a yearly campaign projection of over $23,000, and on every last Friday of the month, Team Members who have signed up for these charitable, payroll deductions get to wear United Way T-shirts to work to show their ongoing support.
