Oxford Casino Supports Local Food Pantry

OXFORD, MAINE — AUGUST 28, 2012— Oxford Casino donated $2,500 to benefit the Oxford Helping Hands Food Pantry. The funds will be used to expand the availability of canned foods, dry goods, and personal hygiene products for area residents who are in need of assistance. With need on the rise and available goods dropping, the donation from Oxford Casino will better position the food pantry to service the growing numbers of people with food insecurities.

The Oxford Helping Hands Food pantry has been open for just more than one year and already services many families in the region. Anyone interested in receiving food from the pantry should request a slip from the town, a church or a nonprofit such as Community Concepts confirming that they are receiving assistance or are having financial trouble.

“While we’re very happy Oxford Casino is positively contributing to the local economy, we also recognize that there remains many families who need assistance,” says Jack Sours, vice president and general manager of Oxford Casino. “We hope Oxford Casino’s contribution to the food pantry will benefit some of our friends and neighbors.”
